History
Reijmyre Glassworks began producing mouth blown glass already in 1810. We are one of Sweden's glassworks, located near Stockholm in Kolmården, Östergötland.
One of our objectives is to increase interest in the Swedish munblåsta glass and keep this proud cultural heritage alive.
Our lively and exciting glass is full of creativity and glowing energy. With a long tradition of glass, which have become collectors' items in many Swedish homes, is Reijmyre with master glassblower, IMAGINATIVENESS and new designers a glassworks in time.
Background
It was the availability of cheap fuel from Kolmården deep forests receiving foresters Johan Jacob Graver & Baron Mattias Alexander von Ungern Sternberg in 1810 to build a glassworks in Reijmyre.
Glasbruket became very successful. At the end of 1800 - Century invest in ovens & grinders. Sliperiet increased and was during that time the largest in Scandinavia.
1880 was considered Reijmyre as the leading glassworks in Sweden with their own exhibitions in Copenhagen, London, Hamburg and Moscow under the leadership of Joshua Ezekiel Kjellgren. Kjellgren was a good & well-educated businessman with previous employment in other glassworks in Sweden.
At the beginning of the 1900 - century followed some setbacks. The newly formed Swedish crystal company acquired shares after Kjell's death where Reijmyre like Eda, Kosta, Alster Fors and Flöxhults glassworks were included. Reijmyre was difficult to assert itself among them. Published in 1926 requested the use of bankruptcy. Many glassblower and polish searched then for småland.
1937 registered Reijmyre Glassworks AB, with Einar Rosengren as manager. While engaged designer Monica Bratt. During her 20 years on the use became Reijmyre known for the red, blue and green glass, both in Sweden and abroad. Until the 1990 - years, Monica products many have become collectors items.
The mill was back on top after the Second World War and was asked the name of the Swedish glass mills.
Bloom period lasted until 1970 - the speech and then took it to mid 1990 - before Reijmyre let's talk about it.
